A school readiness assessment is a formal assessment, done by a qualified person, (usually an educational psychologist), to determine if your child is ready to enter primary school.
How is a school readiness assessment done?
The formal school readiness assessment is done looking at the following areas: social, emotional, physical and intellectual capabilities.
The assessment usually starts with an initial interview with the parents (plus minus 60 - 90 minutes). Thereafter testing is done, during which time a series of tests are used, including formal and informal tests.

The school readiness assessment will take approximately 4 - 5 hours. The assessment is usually done over 2 - 3 sessions, as young children find it difficult to concentrate for long periods of time.
What kind of feedback can I expect from the educational psychologist after the school readiness assessment?
Parents will receive a written report, but also detailed verbal feedback on the various aspects of the school readiness assessment.
